St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Cemetery, Sulpher Springs, Mississippi is owned by the Catholic Diocese of Jackson and managed by Sacred Heart Catholic Church – Camden whose offices are located at 1492 Highway 17, Camden, Ms 39045 662-468-2354. All questions and burial requests should be handled by calling the office.

Someone from Sacred Heart Parish - Camden will meet the Funeral Director and the Family Representative to mark the re quested grave.

The cost of opening and closing the grave and returning to the cemetery is to be included in the funeral expenses.

The Funeral Home is responsible for restoring the grave site to the satisfaction of Sacred Heart Parish, Camden.

 Cemetery Operational Guidlines
A. ADMINISTRATION OF ST. MARY OF
THE SPRINGS CATHOLIC CEMETERY

The maintenance and administration of the cemetery shall be the responsibility of Sacred Heart Parish and the Sacred Heart Parish Council.

The day to day upkeep and oversight of the cemetery will be handled by the maintenance staff of Sacred Heart Parish - Camden.

The parish representative shall have the authority to approve the cemetery plot selection and the authority to collect the proper stipend in accordance with these guidelines.

The Pastor of Sacred Heart shall have the final authority regarding matters not addressed by the operational guidelines.

All funeral homes must follow the guidelines set forth by Sacred Heart Parish – Camden in the St. Mary of the Springs Catholic Cemetery Guidelines for Funeral Homes.
B. ST. MARY OF THE SPRINGS CEMETERY
BURIAL PRIVILIGES
-
Any Catholic Clergy or Religious desiring to be buried in the cemetery and having the approval of the bishop or religious superior.

Persons duly registered and active as parishioners of Sacred Heart Parish or a neighboring “sister” parish at the time of their death. An “active” parish member is one who is Catholic, regularly attends Liturgy and contributes their time, treasure and talent to the building up of the church.

The spouse and minor children of a parishioner.

All other immediate family members who are active Catholics as approved by the Administrator and Parish Council of Sacred Heart Parish.
C. SELECTION OF BURIAL SITE

A plat of the cemetery shall be drawn up and approved by the Sacred Heart Parish Council. Said plat shall show the location of existing burial sites and shall present the approved layout for all remaining burial sites.

A record of those burial sites which exist at the time of the approval of the Cemetery layout and those sites which are subsequently selected in accordance with those guidelines shall be recorded and kept at Sacred Heart Parish.

The Cemetery record will include: site number, name of the deceased or grave site holder, date of birth and date of death.

Surviving family members shall meet with the parish representative as soon as possible after a death to select a site or in the case of a pre-selected site to request that the site be staked.

Once the proper stipend has been made to the parish, arrangements can be made for the digging of the grave.

No trees or shrubbery can be planted within confines of St. Mary of the Springs Cemetery.

Care should be taken in placing items on or around the headstone that may impede the lawn mowers or other equipment.

The parish office should be notified before bringing head stones or monuments to the cemetery in order that proper placement can be assured.
D. PAYMENTS:
